Who is HE ? |
Do you want Him? |
I'm going to share lots of what the Bible says in this column so you can trust not only me but what God Himself says. If there's something you honestly don't understand please contact us below and ask.
There's a lot of misinformation about who Jesus is so let's look at what He said. Jesus himself said " I am the true Vine"( John 15:1) there are a lot of weeds out there that if you go to them to get nourished you cold get sick and even die. The heavenly wine, the sustaining nourishment you are looking for comes from Jesus Christ. Jesus Is the Son of God "And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17, Matthew 16:16,17 Jesus is God Jesus said to Satan when he was being tempted:“It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”Matthew 4:7 "giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him ( Jesus) all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.Colossians 1:12-20 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:8-10 Jesus is filled with the Holy Spirit and led by the Holy Spirit. He lived by the word of God."Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry." And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”Luke 4:1-4 Jesus is a man. When Jesus was tempted, He referred to Himself as a man "But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ " He also hungered Mark 11:12 in order to be our bread of life John 6:35, thirsted John 19:28 so that we could drink of the living water John 19:28, slept, Mark 4:38-40 So we could see how to trust our Heavenly Father who never sleeps to always watch over us during the storms of life Psalm 121:4. Jesus ate Luke 24:43, Drank, Acts 10:41, Jesus had emotions He is Loving and Joyful “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love." John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.Another great artile on this can be found here: https://www.scottmorton.net/articles/2014/8/27/was-jesus-joyful He Wept, John 11:35 Jesus gets frustrated when people stopped children from coming to Him, or other people groups from speaking to Him .Mark 10:14, Matthew 21:12 Jesus was amazed Mark 6:6 which shows He limited His knowledge on the earth like any human is limited. We need to rely on God for supernatural understanding and knowledge. Jesus was really good at this and often had a supernatural foreknowledge of what would happen, but He didn't know everything; only what God, the Father or Holy Spirit told Him about. Jesus was miraculously conceived by God born of a human virgin woman, "Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I [g]do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. "Luke 1:26-45, "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."Luke 2:7 grew up,Luke 4:4, Matthew 17:9, Matthew 17:22, Matthew 19:28, Matthew 26:64, Jesus is the one who brings cleansing and healing. "Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed." Matthew 8:3 Jesus is gentle and humble. He is the one who can give your soul rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls Matthew 11:29. Jesus is not religious. He is merciful. He's not afraid to break religious expectations in order to release true love. Matthew 12:1-14 Jesus is a prophet. So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”Matthew 13:57 Jesus predicted his own death on a cross, and before He even died, He asked His disciples to take up their cross and follow Him. He is the Son of Man who is able to reward us for our good deeds. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and the Door of the Sheep. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. John 10:11, John 10:7, Matthew 2:6 Jesus is a miracle worker. He healed, cast our demons, multiplied food, used supernatural knowledge to find money and fish, could miraculously disappear and reappear in crowds, walked on water and through walls and raised the dead, received food from angels, changed weather patterns, and transformed natural substances( like water into wine). See the whole New Testament. I love reading, listening to and studying the Bible here:www.biblegateway.com/passage/ He still does all of these things today as He lives in believers. See these broadcasts for modern day interviews with those who know how to walk with the power of Jesus flowing through them miraculously: https://www.irisglobal.org/multimedia/after-hours-podcast https://sidroth.org/television/tv-archives/ He is a servant leader... not a bully. But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28 Jesus came to give himself as a payment to buy us back from slavery to the enemy. Even in many areas of the earth today where slavery still exists, you would need to pay the slave owner in order to buy the slave from them if you wish to set them free. Jesus came to do this for us. As soon as we began to listen to the lies of the enemy or Satan, whether it's him telling us we're not good enough or to be jealous, we became slaves to sin. You see this all over the place whether it's an addiction like pornography and gambling or whether it's simply a habit of how you think... always thinking poorly of yourselves or others. For those who receive Him "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."Colossians 1:13 Jesus came to set the slaves free." For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."Romans 6:5-11 Jesus, after he was crucified, rose from the dead just as he prophesied."But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” Matthew 28:5-10 Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission.
